The Association conducts regular training programs for members and general public and also brings to the attention of exim trade various training programmes being conducted by Govt. Agencies and trade bodies. The Association has its own state of the art training center, well equipped with all modern equipments. Some of the association members are eminent UNESCAP trained trainers and there are others who are really good faculties for conducting classes on export/import and maritime trade. Members, Port users and the general public are immensely benefited out of it. The associations faculties are

Exim trade has something more to cheer about. Over the past few years CCBA has been conducting various training programmes for its members and the exim community at the training centre of CCBA. The absence of a world class Institute on Freight Forwarding at Cochin is very seriously felt by the exim community CCHAA has taken up this challenge and ----- would soon be setup at the CCBA building. The Institute would able to boast of the best faculties on exim trade and essential training facilities. The Institute would soon start Diploma Course on Freight Forwarding and conduct short-term training programmes on various topics connected with Exim trade. There would be regular as well as part time courses. The successful participants would be issued certificates and CCBA would also assist in providing placement for the successful participants.
CCBA conducts orientation courses (3 weeks of maximum of two hour duration ) twice in a year for the Custom House Agents staff and to the Exporters,Importers, Consolidators, Steamer Agents etc. The course is conducted usually in the month of May & November. CCBA ensures that the faculty for the orientation course are the best available persons from the respective areas. Certificates will be issued to the successful participants after an evaluation made by the CCBA as well as the Course Director in charge of the programme. The syllabus of the course is attached herewith.
Various one day and half day program are also conducted frequently focusing on specific topics such as Exim Policy, Service Tax, Income Tax etc.
The Orientation course would give an in-depth analysis of the following topics.

1. General Introduction – Relevance of Customs Law and Procedure in International Trade.
2. A detailed study of the Customs Act 1962 and its various provisions especially the following
topics.

a. Administrative set up of the Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance , Government of India – Various sections in the Department – Classes of Officers of Customs, - their appointment, powers etc.
b. Appointment of Customs, Ports, Airports, Warehousing Stations, Inland Container Depots, Container Freight Stations.
c. Prohibitions on importation and exportation.
d. Levy of duty - Provisional Assessment– Re-importation – Remission of duty in certain cases – Claims for refund of duty- Unjust enrichment – Notice for short levy of duty - Exemption from duties.
e. Valuation of goods and Customs Valuation Rules.
f. Provisions relating to conveyances carrying import/export goods – Arrival and departure - Filing or IGMs and EGMs etc.
g. Procedures for clearance of import goods and export goods- Restrictions on custody and removal of goods – Goods in transit – Transshipment of goods – Postal imports.
h. Warehousing - Various provisions and procedures – Manufacture and other operations in relation to goods warehoused – Procedure and other related aspects – Project Imports.
i. Drawback- Provisions in Customs Act – Rules and procedures.
j. Provisions in Customs Act 1962 relating to Advance Rulings, Special Economic Zones and Settlement Commission.
k. Baggage - Provisions and Rules
l. CHA Regulations 2004 – Obligations and liabilities in particular.
m. Offences, Adjudications, Appeals, and allied matters.

3. Important Allied Acts in relation to clearance of import/export goods.
4. Foreign Trade Policy 2004 - 2009 various provisions – ITC (HS) Classification of Import/export items –
Various Export Promotion Schemes – Special Economic Zones - 100% EOUs – Technology Parks etc.
5. Port Operations and vessel handling.
6. Service Tax – Provisions of the Acts and procedures.
7. EDI and ICEGATE filing of Customs documents.

 
Board Room & Conference hall for rental

Members, port users and trade bodies can now avail the CCBA Conference Hall/Training Centre and Board Room for conducting your meetings and training purposes. The salient features & rental charges of the Board Room and Conference Hall are given below.

Conference Hall/Training Centre
· Fully Air conditioned.
· Elegant Chairs attached with writing pad.
· Hall has a maximum capacity for 50   people with   a podium and head table.
· Good audio system with cordless   microphones.
· Addl. amenities like coffee/tea /snacks etc   can   be provided at extra cost.
· Purified drinking water and separate toilet   facilities are also available
Tariff

· Hall rent charges - for one day during office hours i.e. from 9.A.M. to 05.P.M. -
  Rs.1000.00
· Minimum charges - for half day during office hours - Rs.600/-
· Hall rent charges - for one day during holidays i.e. from 9.A.M. to 05.P.M. -
  Rs.1250.00
· Minimum charges - for half day during holidays - Rs.750/-
· Special rate for morning hours during working days ie. from 7.A.M. to 9.A.M. -   Rs.600.00
· Special rate for evening hours during working days ie. from 5.30 P.M. to 8 .P.M. -   Rs.750.00   

   Addl. facilities like coffee/tea, telephone etc will be charged extra

Board Room

· Board room can accommodate 15 people

· Minimum charges - for half day during office hours - Rs.300/-
